hi all, i am pleased to say that i have finally finished watching the whole saxon hm thunder movie, and all the extras on disc two, i must say this was well worth the wait it took to get this out, its to hard to say what my favorite episodes are and chapters becouse both the newer and old footage is awsome!!!!!!!! i am pleased biff sighned my copy and im pleased biff allowed steve dawson and graham oliver to be a part of this, the achives steve had from the crusader and innocence sessions are amazing, i can only imagine what else he may have filmed back then but of coarse he would need saxon and there managment to agree to anything he could put out. i was very happy as well to hear biff explain exactly why steve and graham where fired way back in the day. i do remember hearing graham was fired for putting out the donnington 1980 cd but never did get a 100 % answer on why dawson was sacked back in 86, now that has been explained, the old footage from 79 is awsome, i was speachless watching it, the st georges day show from 08 was amazing to watch as well. it was nice to watch the making of the most current saxon record as well as watching what saxon are playing live now in europe, i saw saxon here in may of 09 and it was great to see saxon back in new york after a 7 year abscense. becouse the gig was at bb kings in new york city i (unfortunatally) did not get to hang out with the whole band for a little while after the show like i did in 2000, and 2002. i also met saxon a co0uple of times back in the 80s as well and saxon are one band i can honestly say are very fan friendly. i was watching what nibbs said about not feeling like he is in steve dawsons shadow becouse as a saxon fan of 29 years i felt nibbs was a better replacement then saxons original replacement for steve in 1986 ( paul johnson) becouse nibbs just really puts 10,000 percent into the gig and i swear he must have a neck like a rubber chicken, im 42 now and there is no way i could headbang like that anymore almost every night, i spoke with nibbs for a while after a gig in 02 and he was very nice, friendly and he did not seem to be in any pain, no nibbs is nibbs and he holds his own, doug is a great guitar player and has brought a lot to saxons table the past 15 years, i guess my two favorite saxon records of the 00s was loinheart (04) and inner sanctum (07) those two records are just so total oldschool saxon and i hope they can return to that sound on the next record. i was hoping for a 30th ann us tour where saxon might do wheels of steel in its entirety or strong arm but i doubt that will happen, you fans in the uk and europe have the best shot at that. quinn is still as great as ever and biff is still way up there as MY METAL GOD ( nothing against rob halford hes great to) also im so happy nigel glockler came back to saxon in 05 after an 8 year abscence ( hey nig i miss your e mails we used to talk about duncan browne a lot remember?) anyway also on the film i loved watching biff getting really pissed at harvey goldsmith regarding that silly riff contest back in 07 at that football game, if it was 1982 or something it would habe been fine but in 07 i did not think it was what saxon needed to do, anyway, this is the best dvd saxon has released, i can only hope in the future that saxon will put out some more new and old footage like they did on this package, im so pleased to have this dvd and everybody at coolhead did a great job and i want to thank biff and saxons managment for allowing dawson/oliver to be a part of this, when it comes to those two, my only regret is that back in 96 when they put son of a bitch together and did that victim you album, i wish they continued on in that format and did not sue biff over the saxon name and then take saxon to court and drag all that on, had they not done that, i think they could have a bit more credebility and they could be playing festivals in europe and doing a bit better for themselves, as a saxon fan of 29 years its not saxon without biff, anyway someday i hope they can all forgive each other and something could happen, regardless im very pleased with nibbs and doug being in saxon longer then the other two had been and they should never be removed becouse they have put many years and work into keeping saxon going and they are just as important as graham and steve where. i can only hope the future brings more saxon footage like this to dvd and im always holding out hope saxon will return to us shores at some point soon, ok guys keep rockin, im always going to be with you, your #1 us fan ED ( SAXONMAN) MCcARTHY
